HELLO, MY POTATOES!!!!! It's POTATO GIRL here with another blog. This is the third book of the Mortal Instrument series: The City of Glass. This is my personal favorite out of the series, and I hope you enjoy it! Anyways, make sure to comment down below what you think of these blogs!
Enjoy!
Clary was about to go to Idris, the Shadowhunter city until a demon attack happened, leaving Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Alec to head through the portal. Unfortunately, Madeline was killed in the attack, which caused me to be upset. I thought she would have a least stayed in the book for a little longer. Anyways, Clary creates a rune and opens a portal to Idris with Luke, but the portal backfires and they both are bounced off of the boundaries and into Lake Lyn. This causes her to see some weird things, and I mean WEIRD things. She wakes up us Amatis Graymark's house. Amatis is Luke's sister.
Let's skip to when Clary and Jace find Jace's old house, the one where he lived in as a child. Before we start, I to introduce a very important character to this story, Sebastian Penhallow. He has become a friend of Clary and lives in the Penhallow manor. He and Clary find a special book to cure their mother. But they also find out that Jace is part demon. This put Jace out of it until the demons somehow get through Idris's boundaries and into the city. Meanwhile, Alec finds Magnus cornered by demons in the city and saves his life. They have a cute Malec talk and they decide to fight off the demons. I literally fangirled at this because Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane are meant to be together, they are just being introverts. Earlier in the story, Simon was put in the Gard prison for being a dangerous vampire. So he now going to die in the Gard due to the fire the demons set.
I bet you guys need some explanation. Vampires are considered Downworlders and Shadowhunters aren't very fond of them. So they aggressive towards each other to their opinions. I swear these people always fight because of opinion and category. Why can't we all just get along? Anyways Clary and the others save Simon and a mysterious man from the prison, only to find out that the mysterious man is Hodge, and that he has answers. But before he can give the answers, the most amazing cliffhanger happens when Sebastian kills him. I was about to cry from the lack of information. It just stops you in your place to see a cliffhanger and not the good kind of stop. It's like your about to throw the book across the room and throw a tantrum.
Let's skip to when Valentine comes to Idris and declares war with the Shadowhunters. With the Mortal sword in his possession, he can control demons and use them to destroy the Shadowhunters. Clary convinces the Council to have the Downworlders aid them in battle with a special rune she made. Jace in all of this fled to find Sebastian and kill him. The reason because of this is he is a spy for Valentine and he killed max Lightwood in the middle of the fight. He goes to a field and is knocked out. When he wakes up, Jace is tied up and in a house with Sebastian. It is revealed that Jace isn't Valentine's son and that it really was Sebastian who was half demon. Jace and Sebastian had a showdown in a field right outside the house to show who was the better warrior, but Isabelle intervened and killed Sebastian.
Jace started going to Lake Lyn, where he found out was the Mortal Mirror. He found Valentine about to kill Clary. Jace took the blade for Clary and died right in front of her eyes. This left me a little distraught because Jace was one of the main characters, meaning that killing him would be the downfall of the series. Valentine did the ritual to summon the angel Raziel, but, to my surprise, was killed by Raziel spitting on him. Talk about an anticlimactic death. NAyways Raziel gave Clary a wish, and she decided to use it to bring Jace back to life. In the end, Jace and Clary get back together. And Valentine is dead, the demons fled Idris, and everything is right with the world.

The Mortal Instruments Pt. 2
HELLO, MY POTATOES!!! I'm POTATO GIRL and I'm back with part 2 of the mortal instrument blogs. Now, you may be wondering,"Potato Girl, how many parts are there to these blogs. Well, I'm doing a blog reaction to each blog, so after this, there are going to be 4 more blogs. Anyways, today I'm posting my reaction to the second book in the series: The City Of Ashes. Hope you dudes enjoy!
We stopped off when Clary and Jace found out they were siblings, and they were finding the cure for their mother, Jocelyn Fairchild. Valentine's whereabouts are revealed in the prolog of the story. where he gets a warlock child to summon a very strong demon, but the warlock gets killed in the process. The mysterious demon and Valentine make a deal, and the prolog ends.
The real story starts at the Institute when Alec and Isabelle's mother (Maryse), father (Robert) and little brother (Max) return from their trip in Idris. Maryse suddenly curses out Jace by saying he's just like his father Valentine, and that she doesn't want to see him anymore. This causes Jace to leave and cause havoc in a werewolf bar. At Simon's house, where Simon and Clary are starting to fall in love. I was a bit upset with this because I thought Jace and Clary would end up together. Even though they're siblings, it's obvious the two love each other. As I usually say, love is love and it doesn't matter who you love as long as the love is true and not one-sided.
Luke calls Clary over because of what Jace did. It turns out that Maryse said those things because the Inquisitor, also known as Imogen Herondale, was coming to take away Jace to the Silent City, where he will later be put to trial under the Mortal Sword. The Shadowhunters believed that the Mortal Sword is one of the 3 Mortal Instruments. When these instruments are combined in a certain ritual, Angel Raziel will come down to the person responsible of the ritual and grant them a wish. The Instruments are the Mortal Cup, the Mortal Sword, and the Mortal Mirror. The Mortal Cup, as you know, can turn regular people n Shadowhunters. The Mortal Sword can make Shadowhunters tell the truth. Finally, the Mortal Mirror can drive Shadowhunters into madness. The night before the trial, Valentine came to visit Jace. He says to Jace that he has big plans for the sword and the cup he stole as well. This causes Jace to get accused of stealing the sword and giving it to Valentine. He is also accused of killing one of the Silent Brothers, keepers of the Silent City.
Jace gets freed from the prison by Clary, Isabelle, and Alec. Clary uses a particular rune to wreck the door, which leaves the three Shadowhunters in confusion in how Clary made that strong of a rune. Clary and the others went to hide in Luke's house, causing them to meet a female werewolf named Maia Roberts. I imagined Maia as a scruffy looking girl, like a cross between a hobo and a skateboarder. I pretty much imagined myself, but older. Let's skip to when Simon was digging himself out of his grave. It turns out that while he was staying with the vampires, some vampire blood was given to him. Because of that, Simon turned into a vampire. Maia, since she is a werewolf, hates Simon. I hate people hating other races just because of how they are. It doesn't matter. This is just like the African American problem from back then.
Anyways, we later find out that Valentine has been killing Downworlders to perform a certain ritual. He needs children Downworlders, so he went after Simon and Maia. Clary, Jace, and the others go to rescue them with the help of the warlock Magnus Bane. Jace, Alec, and Isabelle discovered earlier that Clary had the power to make runes. This surprised me because NO Shadowhunter has even been able to do that. Anyways, Clary gave her friends the Fearless rune, so they were fighting better than ever. Simon was barely alive when Jace found him, so he gave Simon his blood to drink. Maia was ok, and Valentine was defeated by Clary writing "destroy" with her stele on the ship floor. Sadly, Imogen was killed by a flying demon on the ship, so she sunk to the bottom of the ocean floor. Clary and the others were about to go back to the Institute when they see Simon in the sunlight. Apparently, he was filled with Shadowhunter blood because of Jace, and could now walk in the sun. Clary was at the hospital taking care of her mom when a mysterious woman came to sit next to her. Her name was Madeline, and she knew how to cure her mother.
Now THAT was a PLOT TWIST!!! Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed my blog and stay tuned for part 3, The City Of Glass. Hope you guys liked this blog and comment on my other blogs. Also, comment on whether I should add a co-host to aid me with these blogs. You know, a person that can read these books with me. BYE MY POTATOES!!!!

The Secrets of Mary Bowser
HELLO, MY POTATOES!!! I'm here to summarize a week's worth of reading on the book, The Secrets of Mary Bowser. It's a book by Lois Leveen and a book that I recommend. Anyways I hope you all enjoy my summarization and to check out my other blogs as well.
The story starts off with an African slave girl named Mary El. When I learned about the main character, I knew right away this was about how the slaves were treated and how Mary El was the
example. But something did tell me she was going to make a difference. A small difference, but a
difference. Anyways, Mary El has a mother and a father and they all lived in Richmond, Virginia.
Mary El and her mother worked for a generous family called the Van Lews, so they get a little more
freedom than the other slaves in Virginia. Even so, the mother and father want Mary El to move up to Philadelphia for a better education, and to live with a Quaker family. I remember from my previous education in Philadelphia that Quakers were families that believed the Negroes were the same as any other person. I liked those kinds of people, the kind of people that believed all were equal.
Anyways, Mary El goes to Philadelphia and makes friends/ gets an education. She particularly hangs out with a girl named Hattie. She has to be a slave in order to get money for her family, specifically her little brother. Mary El is clueless, so she shrugs it off and goes to the prayer house. When she sits down, she is asked by a white lady to go sit on that bench in the back. I had one idea on what was about to go down, so I kept reading. A 60-year-old African American came to sit down next to Mary El. She asked the man why he was sitting here when he could sitting next to the other whites. The man replied, saying that the negroes sat back here. This caused me to throw the book across the room and scream 'I KNEW IT'! I decided after I screamed that I didn't want to read this until the next day. So I closed the book and went to bed.

The Mortal Instruments Pt. 1
HELLO BACK MY POTATOES!!!! POTATO GIRL here, with another blog for you! This blog is about my favorite book series from middle school, written by an amazing woman (Cassandra Clare). In my opinion, she has a great imagination! Enjoy, and remember to write down in the comment section YOUR reactions!!!
This story needs an explanation. In this world, the humans are surrounded by magical creatures. The story revolves around the species called the Shadowhunters. The human don't know of this species because they've been kept secret for a 1000 years. A long time ago, Johnathan Shadowhunter summoned an angel named Raziel, who is widely known figure to the Shadowhunters in the story. Raziel gave Johnathan a species to protect the humans from the demons. These people are like humans, but they have drank from the Mortal Cup. The Mortal Cup is a goblet that turns humans into half angel, half human beings. These are called Shadowhunters. The main Shadowhunters in this story are the Lightwoods, the Fairchilds, the Herondales, and the Morgensterns.
We start with a girl named Clary Fray. She has a mother named Jocelyn Fray, and a father figure named Luke. Clary and Simon went to the club Pandamonium on her 18th birthday. On that night, Clary saw Shadowhunters kill demons in the club. When I imagined Clary scream, I imagined an eagle screech come out of her mouth. It was extremely funny, and I laughed so hard that my neighbors came to check on me to see if I was ok. Let's skip to when Clary was fighting her first demon in her house. We find out that the Shadowhunter's names are Jace, Isabelle, and Alec. Jace Wayland has blond hair and golden eyes. Isabelle Lightwood had black hair and ebony-colored eyes. Alec Lightwood has black hair and blue eyes. Now, let's see if you can imagine this: there's scraps everywhere on the floor. Clary is pinned to the floor by the demon, and Clary's covered in blood, her clothes in tatters. She shoves Jace's device down the demon's throat, and explodes, chunks of meat dissolving on the floor. Jace comes to help Clary, and she falls unconscious.
When Clary wakes up, she finds she's in a strange hospital room. She looks at the walls and the entire room. Everything's a greyish-white color. Isabelle enters the room. I imagined Isabelle looking like a super model, since the book described her as a knockout. She gives Clary clothes to change into. Later on, after Clary meets Alec, she finds Jace and is introduced to Hodge Starkweather. He has old-man like features, and has a bird named Hugo perched on his shoulder. He struck me a nice man, yet with that unsettle like feeling, like the expression is fake. Later on, Clary finds her last name is Fairchild, and a new life ahead of her. Let me put you in her shoes: a girl who just found out that her father (Valentine Morgenstern) is a bad person who's responsible for the deaths of hundreds. And a girl who's the key to stopping those deaths from continuing. She meets, or re-meets, a man named Magnus Bane. He's a warlock with asian-like features. He's really slender, tall, and has golden cat-like eyes. Clary slowly starts to remember the magical occurrences in her early life. Magnus then flirts with Alec. I immediately fan-girl, and at the same time make a huge discovery. This was the book I've read that had a gay relationship. It was weird, but great that I've accomplished something.
Back to the story, Isabelle then comes and announces that Simon has been captured by vampires. Jace and Clary goes to rescue Simon, then head back to the Institute. In the library, Clary discovers where the Mortal Cup is by trying out an art technique with runes. Runes are symbols that Shadowhunters burn onto their skin to make themselves stronger in life situations. The 4 Shadowhunters go back to Clary's old apartment, only to be attacked by a very strong demon. Alec is injured, Isabelle is still fine, but Jace is captured by Valentine an taken to Blackwell Island. When Clary comes to the Island, she finds Jace, but she then learns from Jace that he is her brother. This is sort of awkward because Jace and Clary kissed before she went to the library. Valentine tried to persuade Clary to join Jace an him, but ends up losing both Jace and Clary, forcing him to retreat to Idris, the main city of the Shadowhunters. Clary and Jace become siblings, but find out Jocelyn is in a magic sleep, leaving the two to get a cure to wake her up.

Candy Chang: My 7th Grade Inspiration
HELLO MY POTATOES!!!! This is POTATO GIRL back to you with ANOTHER blog. And this is a very special blog, because it's about a lady named Candy Chang. She was my inspiration in 7th grade, and I want to share her story with you. Enjoy!
Candy Chang is a woman who has lost her loved one. So to find consolation with her neighbors, she painted an abandoned house in New Orleans with chalkboard paint. Candy then wrote the words,"Before I die, I want to ________. The results of these words astounded her. Responses were special and moving. For example, "I want to see my daughter graduate" or "I want to get my wife back. This attracted the attention of business companies, who wanted their own chalk houses. Today, there are 2000 of these inspirational objects around the world. You can find these houses in China, Iraq, South Africa, and Kazakhstan. Later on, the "Before I Die" book was published. It contains the stories of the chalk houses.
Candy was an inspiration to me, and I hope she will be an inspiration to you. And besides the chalk houses, she has started to make public art too. My personal favorite is the "Atlas of Tomorrow", made in Philadelphia in July 2016. I'm also interested in the Pecha Kucha being made in New Orleans. So as you can see, Candy, along with other moving artists, can make the world a better place. It showed me that art can have a voice in the world, just like the government. It also shows that it's possible for me to have a voice in this world.

Nighttime in New Orleans
The music of Heart to Heart boomed in my ears, and the car ride back was smooth and straight as a wooden table. I stared at the city for one last time, and took in its glory. The nighttime pulled the bright, neon lights into the open, making the buildings in the back blend in like gray shadows. The Super Dome had the usual rainbow spotlights on the curve, making it sparkle like the ocean on a sunset. But the night sky put it all to shame. The moon shone against the inky blackness, and the tiny stars reminded me of tiny white fireflies from my summer camp. We descended to the dark bridge, the orange lights the only thing to light the path.
The car passed that eagles nest I see when passing through the cities. I can almost see the eagle's head perking up from its nest. I then looked through the other window, to the black Pontchartrain Lake, it's miniture waves overlapped on the sandy coast. The car then passes to the grassy landscape, which was mostly made up of tall grass surrounded by small bodies of water. The moon reflected off of the water's ripples. My eyes were overwhelmed at the mystery of this nature, and my eyes started to drift. I lets my eyes close, as my dreams overtook me.

Miraculous Ladybug
Miraculous Ladybug is a show where there are two heroes called Ladybug and Chat Noir. Ladybug is a girl with confident personality and uses her yo-yo to save the day. Her friend, Chat Noir flirts with Ladybug because he's in love with her. But Ladybug always rejects him because she loves someone else. In the normal world, the two heroes unknowingly go to school together as Marinette and Adrien. This time, Marinette has a crush on Adrien but won't say anything because she's nervous. I honestly wish those two would just find out already and kiss now! But enough of that. Their arch enemy is a man named Hawkmoth, a butterfly themed character who makes people evil by giving them black colored butterflies. Reason because he wants Ladybug and Chat Noir's miraculouses. Ladybug and Chat Noir always save Paris from these villans, and save the day for justice. I loved this shoe recommend it to anybody who likes watching superheroes fight villans.

My life in Philadelphia
I would wake up at 7:00 am in the morning with my sister next to me, since we shared a bed and room. I would get up and brush my teeth, then wake up Maddie, because she's fast. Then I would head to the closet to change into my uniform for school. Usually around this time I smelled either bacon or oatmeal from downstairs. My Grandmother would greet me with her usual smile, her hair tied up in a bun and her silver-lined glasses on. I would sit down in a chair and look around our house, as I did every morning. There was the biege colored ceiling, the blue rose wallpaper against the stairs, and the 5 oddly shaped vases on the counter. Half way through breakfast, Maddie would scramble down the stairs and quickly eat her breakfast. The clock would strike 8:00, and our grandpa would take us to school, which was 2 blocks away. My mother couldn't any of that, becuase she's a surgent, and surgents are always busy.
Anyways, we get to school, and Maddie and I scramble up the stairs to our individual classes. I head to my class, say hi to my teachers and sit down. My friends are sitting right next to me. Ashley tells me what happened after school yesterday, and class gets started. Time skip to after school, my grandmother took my little sister and I back home. Once we arrive, my sis goes to the dinner table for arts and crafts, while I go to my room for my homework. Time skip to after my homework, it's dinner time, and Mom just came home. She asks me how was school and what did I do. We talked and laughed as we ate Ba Ngoai's food. Then I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and counted the flowers on my stand lamp before I fell asleep again.

The Knife of Never Letting Go
HELLO MY POTATOES!!! Potato Girl back with another BLOG!!!!
(crowds cheers)
Thanks you guys! Now, let's get onto today's blog. This is a book from an author named Patrick Ness. It's called The Knife Of Never Letting Go. Enjoy!!!!
The main character Todd Hewitt was hands down a somewhat mysterious figure. I wondered how he could control the Noise without losing it, or getting sent to an asylum. I thought of his face when he learned about the answer. I had the same reaction. I mean, all of he women in a town were illed, just because they knew too much. and they were killed by their loved ones! I thought that Viola would speak immediately to Todd on first meeting. But I like that she's smart, and she keeps it all in. I right now think that Mayor Prentiss is evil, along with the town and his son. But I think there is more to Prestiss Town. I just need to read the new book. In all honesty, I like the way Viola is able to imitate all of the voices in the book, including Todd's mom's voice.
I hated the part when Ben and Manche (Todd's father and dog) were taken away from him. The worst part was they were taken away by Aaron (the priest man of Old Prestiss Town). At the end of the book, I honestly thought that Viola and Todd would live happly ever after in the Haven. But instead, the Mayor of Prestiss Town took it over and made himself the president. Todd was knocked and Viola was right next to him as she was shot by the Mayor's son, Davy Prestiss. My thoughts on Davy were that he was spoiled, and had some miscommunication along the way. According to the book, he thought what he doing (killing other people) was a good thing.
