HELLO, MY POTATOES!!!!! It's POTATO GIRL here with another blog. This is the third book of the Mortal Instrument series: The City of Glass. This is my personal favorite out of the series, and I hope you enjoy it! Anyways, make sure to comment down below what you think of these blogs!
Enjoy!
Clary was about to go to Idris, the Shadowhunter city until a demon attack happened, leaving Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Alec to head through the portal. Unfortunately, Madeline was killed in the attack, which caused me to be upset. I thought she would have a least stayed in the book for a little longer. Anyways, Clary creates a rune and opens a portal to Idris with Luke, but the portal backfires and they both are bounced off of the boundaries and into Lake Lyn. This causes her to see some weird things, and I mean WEIRD things. She wakes up us Amatis Graymark's house. Amatis is Luke's sister.
Let's skip to when Clary and Jace find Jace's old house, the one where he lived in as a child. Before we start, I to introduce a very important character to this story, Sebastian Penhallow. He has become a friend of Clary and lives in the Penhallow manor. He and Clary find a special book to cure their mother. But they also find out that Jace is part demon. This put Jace out of it until the demons somehow get through Idris's boundaries and into the city. Meanwhile, Alec finds Magnus cornered by demons in the city and saves his life. They have a cute Malec talk and they decide to fight off the demons. I literally fangirled at this because Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane are meant to be together, they are just being introverts. Earlier in the story, Simon was put in the Gard prison for being a dangerous vampire. So he now going to die in the Gard due to the fire the demons set.
I bet you guys need some explanation. Vampires are considered Downworlders and Shadowhunters aren't very fond of them. So they aggressive towards each other to their opinions. I swear these people always fight because of opinion and category. Why can't we all just get along? Anyways Clary and the others save Simon and a mysterious man from the prison, only to find out that the mysterious man is Hodge, and that he has answers. But before he can give the answers, the most amazing cliffhanger happens when Sebastian kills him. I was about to cry from the lack of information. It just stops you in your place to see a cliffhanger and not the good kind of stop. It's like your about to throw the book across the room and throw a tantrum.
Let's skip to when Valentine comes to Idris and declares war with the Shadowhunters. With the Mortal sword in his possession, he can control demons and use them to destroy the Shadowhunters. Clary convinces the Council to have the Downworlders aid them in battle with a special rune she made. Jace in all of this fled to find Sebastian and kill him. The reason because of this is he is a spy for Valentine and he killed max Lightwood in the middle of the fight. He goes to a field and is knocked out. When he wakes up, Jace is tied up and in a house with Sebastian. It is revealed that Jace isn't Valentine's son and that it really was Sebastian who was half demon. Jace and Sebastian had a showdown in a field right outside the house to show who was the better warrior, but Isabelle intervened and killed Sebastian.
Jace started going to Lake Lyn, where he found out was the Mortal Mirror. He found Valentine about to kill Clary. Jace took the blade for Clary and died right in front of her eyes. This left me a little distraught because Jace was one of the main characters, meaning that killing him would be the downfall of the series. Valentine did the ritual to summon the angel Raziel, but, to my surprise, was killed by Raziel spitting on him. Talk about an anticlimactic death. NAyways Raziel gave Clary a wish, and she decided to use it to bring Jace back to life. In the end, Jace and Clary get back together. And Valentine is dead, the demons fled Idris, and everything is right with the world.
